Dear Sister, From yesterday’s devotion, I hope that I established that our focus as believers in Christ is to have our top priority, our truest devotion, set on God. This is not a heavy burden to be placed on you. This reflects God’s great devotion to you. He does not take his love and devotion to you lightly. In the following verses, I want you to see that he is truly devoted to you and has taken action to make you his own. I would like you to think for a moment about a wedding. When a man loves a woman, he wants to make her his very own wife. He offers his hand in marriage, gives her an engagement ring as a seal of this offer, and then follows through with his offer in the future wedding. None of this comes about without cost, sacrifice, devotion, or love (I am referring to marriage in the purest sense; when both people love one another and have each other’s best interest at heart). Once married the husband now is responsible for his bride. He is to love, honor, and cherish her and she is to receive his love and devote herself back to him. As believers in Christ, we are called His bride. We have entered a covenant relationship with him and are essentially married to him, with the Holy Spirit as a seal, “who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory” Ephesians 1:14. We now belong to God. Read the following Bible verses with God’s devotion to you in mind. 2 Corinthians 1:22 He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. To be anointed is to be set apart for God. His seal shows that we belong to God. His Spirit is his down payment for us (think of how an engagement ring is like a seal that sets an engaged woman apart, is a seal of ownership in that she belongs to one man and a deposit of a marriage in the future). 1 Corinthians 3:16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple. Beautiful bride of Christ, you my dear are God’s temple, a dwelling place of His Spirit! He loves you so much that he is always with you and in you. That is devotion! Now one last thing I want you to think about today. Because God’s Spirit lives within you and your entire body is His temple, be aware that you do not own your body. Your body is now anointed, set apart for God. Live in a way that honors God. He is devoted to you, and you are to be devoted to Him. 1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body. As believers in Christ Jesus, we now belong to God. He is devoted to us. As a bride is devoted to her husband, so we should be devoted to Christ honoring him with our whole self. Please take a moment to thank God for his devotion to you and all that he has done to make you his own.

AuthorI'm a woman who has the spirit of the teenage girl I once was and that is why I love life, people, and being silly and laughing. I can be mature and grown-up, but it isn't my default setting, more like life's program. The color of my spirit is Hot Pink, and the color of my soul is Teal. Dark chocolate is a health food and I believe there is food for the body and then there is food for the soul. Eat responsibly and enjoy the treats. These devotions are from the heart and meant to help me think and share. I hope that these devotions will be a health food to your soul as well. Archives
